The Black Wing

The Black Wing: Aviator of Vengeance

Gabriel’s version of The Black Wing
Character illustration by Luis-Gabriel Leal, using the character creator in the “City Of Heroes / City Of Villains” computer games.

-Background: Sky Patrol is the premier defense of America’s airways, a super-squadron of ace pilots collected from around the world. However, Sky Patrol is unknowingly betrayed by a group of saboteurs from the inside, and during a hellish mission defending the country’s shores, dozens of pilots are killed, their planes downed in the ocean.

But among the killed airmen, one pilot lived.

Before he was shot down, he intercepted a coded message from the moles in Sky Patrol to their cohorts in the attacking forces. The message implicates the spies, but the surviving pilot must weed them out.

Facially scarred from the fiery destruction, he investigates the Sky Patrol under a variety of disguises to weed out the spies. These investigations eventually bring him face to face with enemies, both on the ground and in the air. In battling these enemies, he becomes The Black Wing, aviator of vengeance.

-Gear:
*Lillith: a “flying wing” style one man aircraft. The mysterious Black Wing had been developing this plane in secret, and planned to submit it to his superiors for possible mass-production. The saboteur incident stopped these plans, however, and the prototype was completed and perfected in secret. The craft is armed to the teeth, highly maneuverable, and fast as hell.

*Costume: Besides appearing in various highly-detailed disguises, The Black Wing appears in his chosen costume- black boots, dark grey riding breeches, black gloves, dark grey turtleneck sweater, black leather jacket. A holster hangs on his right hip, containing a M1911 Colt Automatic pistol. A mask covers the entire head of the mystery pilot, leaving just the eyes and his grimly-set mouth visible. A pair of flight goggles perched on his head and a yellow scarf around his neck are the only remnants of his former Sky Patrol uniform.

(This last idea is the newest one out of the three. I’ve spent the least amount of time on this, but I really am starting to like it. Suggestions?)
