This site is the proposed research, discussion, and development hub for an upcoming series of stories featuring new, pulp-style heroes Clifton “Challenger” Storm, The Cipher, and The Black Wing. It is a work in progress. Feel free to comment regarding the developments herein…
My name is Don Gates, and all my life I’ve been fascinated with pulp magazines, movie serials, radio shows… Recently, I began to try to put my ideas down, to actually do what I’ve never been able to do: actually DO something with these ideas. My goal is to publish my ideas as a series of novels, but maybe one day a comic or webcomic would be nice, also.
I got my ideas together and submitted them to an illustrious group of my online friends for feedback. I plan to keep a journal here, to present my ideas as well as the feedback from my team, MARDL (or “Miami Aerodrome: Research and Development Laboratories”). I’m excited about this development process, and hope all this will motivate me to fulfill my goals.

It officially started today (May 23, 2007) at 7:31 PM (EST). I sent an email to my MARDL Feedback Team.
This team, hand-picked from the cream of the pulp fan and creator crop, is comprised of
-The Retropolitan
-Gabriel Leal
-Dave Flora
-Thomas Floyd
This email (entitled “My Pulp Pitches”) explained the ideas I have so far for my pulp characters: Clifton “Challenger” Storm, The Cipher, and The Black Wing. These initial ideas are on the character’s pages here, along with the comments I’ve received so far.
I hope that this will become a new venture for me, as I pay tribute to the stuff my dreams are made of: the pulp adventures of yesteryear gone by.
